Things getting real with Tokyo 2020 one year away today
With today marking the milestone of just one year until the opening ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the competition is about to get very real for those Australian riders with aspirations of making the Australian Jumping Team. Whether their journey towards Tokyo is based overseas or in Australia initially, competition for places on the team are sure to be hotly contested.
Coincidentally, this weekend also marks the start of the Australian World Cup Series for 2019-20. With the offer of a place in the FEI World Cup Jumping Final in Las Vegas next April, the competition will be lively and fierce.

The 2020 Australian Jumping Team – Nomination Criteria is currently with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) for final approval, however the upcoming World Cup Qualifying events are essential to the selection process, with riders able to obtain their Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) at the outdoor events in this series. Athlete/Horse combinations that have completed the first round of any of the selected FEI World Cup™ CSI1*-W competitions with a score of not more than of zero (0) penalties will obtain half their MER.

With these eleven events to be held in four different states over the next six months, it will be fascinating to see how the leaderboard develops.
