Amelia Douglass dominates podium at Takapoto
It has been a great couple of weeks for Amelia Douglass as she has taken on the best at the gorgeous Takapoto Estate on the North Island of New Zealand. Yesterday she finished her campaign with a win in the Bronze Tour Final on Cassis Z Ten Halven and a third place on Sirius Du Granit. Following this success, Douglass then took third place against a class field in the Silver Tour Final.

The Bronze Tour was run over two qualifying rounds and a final. After winning the first qualifier on Cassis Z Ten Halven thereby securing their place in the final, Douglass then went on to gain a place in the final for Sirius Du Granit through the second qualifier. Fellow Aussie Melissa Blair and Gigant Z had an excellent first qualifier finishing on the podium in second place, to secure their place in the final, but unfortunately a rail yesterday left them out of the placings.

The Silver Tour was also run over two qualifying rounds, but with Douglass and her lovely mare Upperclass Z winning the first qualifier, they were straight through to the Final. The Final was a hotly contested competition and both Aussies Douglass and Jess Rice-Ward (on Dusky Farm Cavalier) had lovely clear rounds to make it through to the jump-off. Unfortunately a late rail for both combinations left them each with 4 penalties and third and fourth place respectively. An admirable effort though, given that they were up against great competition and were amongst the youngest competitors in the class.
