After a break of some three months the Australian 2025/26 World Cup Qualifying Series resumed yesterday, with the third leg of a total of 10 legs, held at the Festival of Showjumping at Caboolture, Qld. The Peachester Lodge World Cup Qualifier attracted a cracking field of 24 combinations, all looking to tackle the David Sheppard designed course and secure valuable championship points in a series where the winning rider will be invited to represent Australia at the World Cup Final in to be held at Fort Worth Texas in April next year.
Coming into this third leg, all riders were out to make up ground on the pointscore leader Gemma Creighton, who had had a perfect start to the season, winning the first two legs at Shepparton and Werribee back in March.
In a thrilling class, where the winner and second place were separated by less than a quarter of a second, the win went to Ebenezer based Jamie Winning-Kermond aboard the Rachel Peel owned mare Tulara Wat Colblensky (Colman x Tulara Cornetto). For this combination to win a World Cup Qualifier at only their third start at this level speaks volumes for the talent and potential that this combination possesses. In their previous two outings at Willinga Park last year and Werribee earlier this year, they finished fourth and fifth respectively, so it was no surprise to see them on the podium yesterday and we are sure that big things are in the future for this combination.
Jamie said following the class, “After walking the first round I just wanted to make it under time. I’d been schooling the last two days when she was fresh, knowingly getting time faults, so today was the only time I put her and I under a bit of stress.”
“I really want to thank all our grooms at Yandoo, it’s an absolutely tiring job and they do it for the love of the horses and we appreciate them endlessly… they work hard, they really care for the horses and without everything they do, our horses wouldn’t perform like they do.”
“We’ve got just the most amazing owners, students, clients. The whole teamwork is the thing that allows us to be our best.”
Second place went to Jennifer Wood and her gelding Ipod (by Cassiago) who put together a fantastic pair of clear rounds, just missing out on the win. The first and second placed combinations were the only two to produce double-clear performances and they could only be split by the stop-watch.

Queensland based Billy Raymont and the gelding Caprino (Carpino x Clearway) who won this event last year, as well as taking out the overall 2024/25 series came in third. After taking a rail in the first round, this combination rallied, producing a scintillating second round, over two seconds faster than the winners, which left them the best performed of the four combinations which ended the class on a total of four penalties.
Josh Collins and the beautiful stallion Cornel (Corlensky x 1069 Beethowen) who finished fourth, almost stole the win. They were clear into the second round and sizzed around the course but unfortunately for them, took a rail and finished with a time placing them just outside the podium. Clem Smith and Oaks Calypso (Copabella Cadiz x Oaks) a horse previous campaigned at this level by Brad Frankum had a clear second round after taking a single rail in the first.
This performance (one rail in the first round then a clear second round) was replicated by the sixth placegetters Anneliese Wansey and Texas (Calgary GNZ x Colando). This was a superb effort by this combination who both were competing at this level for the first time.
It was a wonderful competition to watch and we look forward to the rest of the World Cup season to see how the story unfolds. The next Leg will be held in Sydney at the Waratah show in late August
