This weekend marks the beginning of the middle third of the Australian World Cup Season as Waratah Showjumping hosts its much-anticipated World Cup Show at SIEC. After a break of almost two months since the third leg in Caboolture, the next three legs will come quickly, with Tamworth following just a week later and Willinga Park staging the sixth leg three weeks after that. The season will then build towards its conclusion with Boneo Park in October, the inaugural World Cup show at Stonewall at Mangrove Mountain two weeks later, and the Sydney Summer Classic in December as the finale.

Wins at the opening two legs in Shepparton and Werribee have given Gemma Creighton and Dada Des Brimbelles Z the early lead in the standings. Gemma now sits on 37 points, with Jamie Winning-Kermond close behind on 33 after her victory in Caboolture added to the 13 points she had already collected. Always a force to be reckoned with, Billy Raymont is not far away in third place on 29 points, after taking both a second and a third in the legs he has contested.

A three-way tie follows for fourth place, with Jennifer Wood, Madeline Sinderberry and Amelia Douglass all sitting on 23 points after each claiming a podium finish. Just behind them is Phillip Lever on 22, showing the consistency that has long made him a name to watch.

While the start list for Saturday’s class has not yet been released, the anticipation is building. With so many of the leading riders expected, the stage is set for an exciting contest as Waratah delivers another memorable World Cup round.
