How the FEI Jumping World Championships will work at Aachen 2026
Australian Jumping’s coverage of the FEI Jumping World Championships 2026 is proudly brought to you by Divas Beverages, our exclusive coverage partner as we follow Australia’s combinations on the world stage.
The FEI Jumping World Championships at Aachen is the major highlight on the international jumping calendar, and for Australian Jumping fans, there will be plenty to follow.
It is our understanding that Australia will field a senior team of four combinations, plus one reserve and for the Young Rider Championships, Australia will have two combinations, plus one reserve. It is anticipated that the team and the Young Rider combinations will be announced by Equestrian Australia mid July.
While the selection of the Australian teams will naturally attract plenty of attention, the format of the championship itself is also worth understanding. The World Championship is not decided in one class. It is a multi-day format, with both team and individual results building across several rounds.
Before the Championship Begins
The first jumping activity in the Main Stadium will be the official warm-up with obstacles on Tuesday, 18 August. This is open to the public and gives horses and riders the chance to enter the championship arena before the competition begins.

The results are converted into penalties, with the leading combination receiving zero penalties and the others receiving penalties based on their result compared with the leader. This opening class can make a significant difference to the championship standings, as every penalty is carried forward.
