A Nations Cup Team to be proud of
The Australian Nation’s Cup Team who represented us at Peelbergen, Kronenberg (NED) over night have certainly walked away with their heads held high.
The team consisting of Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster, Amelia Douglass and Quel Filou 16, Gabi Chugg and PSS Levilensky and Thaisa Erwin and High Star Hero put in an excellent performance. Their team placing was 9th out of 13 nations really doesn’t tell the full story, given that they finished the two Rounds on a team score of only 16 penalties, just three penalties higher than Team Great Britain and one penalty lower than Team Sweden.
Australia were 5th on the order of go and Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster were the first combination out for our team, but having an uncharacteristic three rails down relegated them to our drop score for Round 1. As the rain started to fall steadily, our under 25 rider Amelia Douglass with Quel Filou 16 had a great round, just taking a rail at the final fence and also collecting 2 time penalties. Gabi Chugg & PSS Levilensky certainly shone for our team in Round 1, delivering a lovely clear and Thaisa Erwin and High Star Hero also had a great round finishing on 4.
Going into Round 2 in 10th place, our team put in another great performance, with Tom delivering a lovely clear, Amelia only collecting one time penalty and Thaisa finishing again on 4. For Round 2 Gabi and PSS Levilensky were the drop score on 12.
Overall a great competition for our riders, providing not only great experience but also delivering some really nice results, especially given that for 2 of our riders this was their First Nations Cup.
