Alexander Jang takes Stal Tops YR Final and the 2025 Series
The final leg of the Stal Tops Australian Young Rider Series held yesterday as part of the Jumping NSW Sydney Summer Classic at Sydney International Equestrian Centre carried genuine weight, with the leaderboard tightly compressed after three rounds and several combinations still in striking distance of the overall title. With the series run across four legs and points awarded to combinations, every rail and every second mattered from the outset.
Coming into the class, Jack Barker with Tulara On Trend, Tanner Robinson with Casiana and Charlie Magnier with Notre Dame de Bourgignon sat equal first on 17 points. Close behind were Alexander Jang and Parallax SCF on 14 points, while Cody Tincknell and Numero Too held fifth on 12. Further down the order, combinations like Cody and Mountain View Our Balou and Olivia Gostelow with Tulara Cristo were still well placed to influence the final standings with a strong performance.
Liam Rutland set the class in motion with Adele, producing a forward round that stayed clear at the fences but picked up two time penalties. Jack followed with Tulara For Quinar and added four faults, before Cody Tincknell shifted the momentum. Riding Mountain View Our Balou, a combination sitting equal ninth on the leaderboard, Cody produced a fluent, faultless round and stopped the clock at a quick 72.84 seconds. It was a statement ride that not only secured a jump off place but also applied real pressure to those higher up the series standings.
Tanner Robinson answered that challenge with precision. Aboard Bloomfield SSNZ, Tanner jumped clear in 75.54 seconds, slotting neatly into contention while also keeping his series hopes firmly alive.
As the class continued, Jack Barker returned with Tulara On Trend, the combination tied for first on the leaderboard coming into the day, however 16 penalties opened the door for others to capitalise.
Cody returned with Numero Too, a combination sitting fifth on the leaderboard, but eight faults ended their hopes of a decisive points haul. Tanner followed with Casiana, tied first on the leaderboard coming in, and a four fault round saw that pairing miss out on the jump-off and leave the series outcome wide open.
The final first round clear came from Alexander Jang and Parallax SCF. Sitting fourth on the leaderboard at the start of the day, Alexander produced a controlled, accurate round to finish clear in 78.24 seconds and secure a place in the jump off alongside Cody and Tanner.
Cody and Mountain View Our Balou were first to go, but a fan brought their jump off to an early conclusion, leaving them third overall on the strength of their opening round. Tanner followed with Bloomfield SSNZ, pushing the pace and stopping the clock in 41.93 seconds. Alexander knew what her had to do and riding with confidence, he delivered a second clear in 41.66 seconds to take the win in fantastic style.
Alexander’s victory with Parallax SCF not only secured the class win but also the 2025 Stal Tops Australian Young Rider Series Series win, with consistency across all four legs ultimately rewarded. The final round delivered exactly what the series promised, pressure, precision and a leaderboard that remained in play right to the final jump.
Alexander received a leather phone case from Tori Equestrian for taking out the class and, for the series, a beautiful necklace that we are sure will find a much appreciative wearer!
Congratulations to all from today’s class and across the series and thank you again to Jan Tops and Edwina Tops-Alexander for putting on this series for Australian Young Riders, it means a lot to the sport in this country.
