Ally Lamb sails to the win in Sale Grand Prix

The Sale and District Showjumping Club conducted their Elms Grand Prix Show at the Sale Showground over the weekend. The three day show, which was held over two arenas, saw classes starting at 0.60m ranging right up to the 1.40m Grand Prix, held on Sunday, there were classes for a wide range of abilities.

The Grand Prix saw 16 combinations entered with just six recording clear rounds and thereby qualifying for a jump-off. The fastest of these six was Andrew Lamb and the bay mare Spartava DP. In the jump-off, four of the six competing combinations again went clear and the winner, with a time of 53.42 seconds, was Ally Lamb and her 12-year-old grey stallion, Eagle Rock. Just 0.33 seconds slower was Brook Dobbin and Gabriel MVNZ, filling second place with Andrew Lamb and Spartava DP in third. Unluckily for Jess Pateman and Celso a time of 60. 52 seconds meant they were relegated to fourth place, despite their double clear performance.

Earlier in the day an Open 1.10m championship class was taken out by Jess Kiernan and the James Paterson-Robinson bred gelding Amenadiel, in a highly competitive class which saw 17 combinations in the jump-off. Also over fences 1.10m high was the Junior Championship, won in style by Tanner Robinson and Shady Creek Bluefire, going one better than their second place in the Victorian Childrens’ Championship back in April. In fact, it was a great weekend for the Robinson family with Tanner’s mum, Airlie who took out a 1.15m class with Yalambi’s Corlandia on Friday.

The 1.30m Mini-Prix was won by Sally Simmonds and Chio MS who were runner’s up in the 2019 Australian Junior Championship, in a fine double clear performance. They showed thier class buy beating home Andrew Lamb and Spartava DP by just over 0.5 seconds, who, as previously mentioned, went on to a third place in the Grand Prix. Third in the Mini Prix went to Sam Williams and Oaks Kiribati.
