The first major title decided on the final day of the NSW State Showjumping Championships was the Junior Rider Title. In a fantastic display of high class jumping, only double clear rounds in today’s final were good enough to finish in the first three. Here’s a look back at how the title was decided.

The First Round was held on Friday as a speed class. Sarah Noonan and Peace Dreams were the clear winners by a margin of almost three seconds with placings second through to sixth all separated by just one second.

Sarah Noonan and Peace Dreams

The Second Round was held on Saturday and was dominated by Anneliese Wansey who came both first and second with Classic Act and Kolora Stud St Patrick respectively. Clemency Hughes showed that she could be a force in the Championship by finishing fourth and fifth, while First Round winning combination, Sarah Noonan and Peace Dreams could not replicate their First Round success, by finishing sixteenth.

To guarantee the title, Anneliese Wansey and Kolora Stud St Patrick needed to go clear in this final class.

After the first round of the final, there were eight clear rounds with most of the top ranked combinations going into the final being represented. However, after the second round today, there were only three combinations still clear and they filled the first three places in the final. Just as in yesterday’s Second Round, Annaliese Wansey and Clemency Hughes dominated, again each filling two of the first six placings. Not to be outshone, First Round winner, Sarah Noonan, also finished in fourth and sixth place.

CLASS 142: NSW Junior Title – Final – 1.30m

The above results were just for today’s class, however, when the Carried Forward Penalties were taken into account to determine the Junior Title winner, the story was a slightly different one. Anneliese Wansey and Kolora Stud St Patrick had gone double clear in the final and therefore could not beaten for the title. The ultra-consistent Clemency Hughes and Diamond B Corvina filled second place in the title and the winning combination in the final Anneliese Wansey and Class Act came third.
