Boneo Park set to sizzle over the weekend
After an exciting Day 2 of the Pryde’s Easifeed Australian Jumping Championships yesterday, Day 3 commenced this morning in overcast cool conditions. Fortunately for the riders and spectators the rain stayed away for most of the day, allowing the rings to progressively dry out. For many of the championship divisions, Round 2 classes were held today, giving combinations their last chance to qualify in the most favourable position possible for Championship finals to be held over the weekend.
IRT AUSTRALIAN YOUNG RIDER CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 (1.30m)
The first class on Ring 1 today was Round 2 of the Young Rider Championship. After an action filled Round 1 yesterday where five combinations were eliminated after a series of falls, things went much more smoothly today. A total of 32 combinations started with high class riding being the order of the day. With nine clear and three single time penalty rounds, a single rail meant the end to today’s competition. Fastest of the clears was Victorian, Caitlin Clarke and Wyuna Park Stella (72.68 seconds), just pipping Madeline Sinderberry and Oaks Kosmo (72.74).

Spectators witnessed a high quality jump off, featuring the crème of Australia’s Young riders. With four of the nine participants recording double clears, it came down to time to sort out the winners. Fastest was Madeline Sinderberry and Oaks Kosmo, half a second faster than Amelia Douglass and Sirius Du Granit. Third by just 0.02 of a second was Erin Buswell and Quero Quero. Also going double clear were Brooke Langbecker and Beijing LS La Silla to take out fourth place.
We look forward to what will be no doubt be a thrilling final of this division on Sunday. After taking the win in today’s Round 2 and second place in Round 1, defending champion Madeline Sinderberry, will go into the final well placed to take the championship, however it won’t be an easy task with such a competitive field.
The IRT Australian Young Rider Championship, Round 2, top twelve placings were:

HORSELAND AUSTRALIAN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 (1.45m)
The second class on Ring 1 was Round 2 of the Senior Championship. This was the last chance for the combinations to position themselves as high up the rankings as possible prior to Sunday’s final.
A total of 42 combinations tackled the course, however, only five clear rounds were recorded, the fastest of which was Chis Chugg and PSS Levilensky with 73.14 seconds.
First out in the jump off was Tom McDermott and Diamont, going clear in 51.04 seconds. Second out was Gabrielle Kuna and Flaire, who also went clear in a slightly faster time to take the lead. The other three combinations in the jump off were unable to beat Kuna’s time, with Tom McDermott and Elegance De La Charmille taking third place.
With only six of the twelve Round 1 placegetters gaining a placing for Round 2, this competition is wide open. Sunday’s final should be a fascinating encounter.

HORIZON JUMPS AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 (1.15m)
The final class on Ring 1 was Round 2 of the Australian Junior Championship. As with Round 1, the best Junior riders that Australia has to offer entered the class and an enthralling competition ensued.
Combinations came out in reverse order from their placings so clear rounds were hard to come by early on, however, as the class progressed, they started to come thick and fast and we ended up with 17 combinations clear. Fastest of these was the NSW rider Madeline Sinderberry and JT Valentina in 72.72 seconds
The first three combinations in the jump off incurred penalties and the first double clear was recorded by Sophie Hatch and Rosthwaite Belvedere in 39.99 seconds who were out fourth. With thirteen combinations to come it was going to be a nervous wait for Hatch, but one by one her competitors tried and nobody could match her performance, to leave her as the winner of Round 2 after finishing in ninth place in round 1. Second place went to Charlie Kinder and Renmarno, almost a second behind with third place being filled by the very consistent Madeline Sinderberry and JT Valentina just 0.09 seconds slower. In the end, NSW riders not only filled the podium, but occupied the first 6 placings.
We look forward to what should be an exciting final on Sunday morning.

BEACONHILLS COLLEGE AUSTRALIAN CHILDRENS’ CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 (1.00m)
The action in Ring 2 commenced with Round 2 of the Australian Children’s Championship, following on from their Round 1 class on Day 1 of the Championship.
Round 2 saw three combinations drop out of the division, with 42 starting today. In a fantastic exhibition of jumping, a massive 26 combinations recorded clear rounds, the fastest of which was achieved by second placegetter in Round 1, Holly Tomkins and Princess Annie (54.66 seconds), beating the second fastest time by more than 5 seconds.
Tomkins and Princess Annie rode early in the jump off and set a very fast time, holding provisional first place for an extended period until Round 1 winner Maleah Lang-McMahon and KS Annassi entered the ring. They flew around the course, clear in 31.12 seconds to pip Tomkins and Princess Annie by just 0.36 seconds. This place also went to Lang-McMahon, this time riding Vakara Champagne, just over half a second slower.
The final for this division is scheduled for first class on Ring 1 tomorrow morning. It will be fascinating to see if the winner of both rounds, Maleah Lang-McMahon and KS Annassi will prevail, or will second placegetter in both rounds, Holly Tomkins and Princess Annie be able to reverse the tables. Or perhaps, there will be a surprise winner. Time will tell!

The second class held on Ring 2 today was Round 2 of the Australian Amateur Championship.
Conducted over 1.15m, 35 combinations were entered, in what turned out to be a very hotly contested class. Good quality jumping saw 18 of the 35 record clear rounds, with the quickest going to Morgan Daniel and Aladino in 70.14 seconds, which proved to be a brilliant indicator for the jump off. Not only did this combination win yesterday’s Round 1, but they whipped around the jump off course in 34.99 seconds, which was more than a second faster than any of her competitors. Second place went to Jamie Ellis and Centaur MVNZ, ever so slightly ahead of Eva Rasmussen and Devil Wears Prada who finished in third.
With ten double clears recorded in the class today, this looks like it will be a very tightly contested championship, however, after securing victory in both rounds, Morgan Daniel and Aladino will enter Saturday’s final holding a distinct advantage.
