It wasn’t all about the major Championships at the Pet Circle Australian Jumping Championships with a number of other titles competed for over the five days of competition. Read all about these series played out below.

THE RUBY SERIES

The Ruby Series was divided into two sections. Section A was open to horses who met the entry criteria while Section B was restricted to horses 7-years-old or less on the first day of the competition. Heights of the obstacles were set at 1.20m for Round 1 and 1.25m for Round 2. Only the best 50% of entries (or a minimum of 20 combinations) in the preliminary rounds were eligible for the finals (1.30m) which had a seeded starting order. No penalties were carried to the final based on the preliminary rounds with all combinations starting on an even footing.

The winners of the Ruby Series (Section A) were Jessica Stalling and the Chacco Blue mare Chatina. They were the benchmark in consistency across the series, finishing second in Round 1, before winning the second round then the final. They left all the rails in place across the championship and we deserved winners.

The Ruby Section B was a hard-fought affair putting on show some of the best and most promising younger horses in the country.

Senior Champion Tom McDermott along with mare Gille Van Hippo Lux V did enough in the two preliminary rounds, finishing in 14th and 16th place to make the 19 combination start list for the final, however, it was on the Sunday that they really shone. They put in a great double clear performance with a jump off time over 1.5 seconds faster than their nearest rivals Chris Chugg and CF Carlotta to secure the win. Tom, aboard another mare Tumeric Touch came in third, also going double clear.

THE EMERALD SERIES

Just like the Ruby Series, the Emerald Series was divided into two sections. Section A was open to horses who met the entry criteria while Section B was restricted to horses 6-years-old or less on the first day of the competition. Heights of the obstacles were set at 1.10m for Round 1 and 1.15m for Round 2, with the fences in the final set at 1.20m. A total of 31 combinations were entered into the final.

The Series win went to Brooke Morley and the Kannan mare Oaks Karla who had travelled all the way from Alice Springs to compete at the Championship. They had a great time of it at Boneo, keeping all the rails in place across the three classes of competition.

The Emerald Section B was an exciting series showcasing the best horses 6-years old and less in Australia. The Series win went to Queensland’s Hugh Buchanan and the gelding Waitangi Neo, who just got better as the Series went on. They were third in the first qualifying round, second in the second round and then to follow the progression, winners in the final by a margin of almost two seconds, all without a rail down

AMATEUR

The Pryde’s Easifeed Amateur Championship was decided over two qualifying rounds, then a final for the top 16 performed combinations across the qualifiers. The rails started at 1.10m in the first round and were set at 1.20m for the final. After finishing in 12th then 13th place in the rounds, Bek Carrolan and the gelding CP Quigley came into the Final as the equal 11th best qualifiers, however, it was in the final that they really excelled. In a very tight contest where six combinations put in double clear performances and the top four were separated by only 0.7 seconds, they were the fastest in the jump off by just 0.18 seconds to claim the win. This came hot on the heels of their win in the Boneo Cup Show Amateur competition.

OPAL

The Horseland Opal Series saw a huge start list for round 1 of 70 combinations but it came down to just the top 35 competing in the Sunday morning final. Fresh from her victory on Saturday in the Children’s Championship, the win in the Opal Series went to Eliza Abrahams aboard Vivarchi RM. They were a model of consistency with clear rounds across all three days of competition. It topped off a memorable weekend for the Victorian 14-year-old star of the future.

PEARL

The Pearl Series was conducted with the rails set at 0.90m for the two preliminary rounds, with them raised to 0.95m for the final. The Series was dominated by Tiffany Joyce and her little mare LH Princess Dior. After winning the first round and placing second in the second, they went on to win the final going double clear and almost 1.5 seconds faster than their nearest rivals

IVORY

The Ivory Series, with the rails starting at just 0.80m was a hard-fought affair with the 20 combinations in the final putting together nine double clear performances. The win, with a time almost two seconds superior to the runner up went to Amelia Terrill and mare Black Layce. This combination are no strangers to success, having been part of the Victorian Interschool team in 2024 and being named on the Victorian Jumping development squad for 2025.

OFF THE TRACK

The Off the Track (OTT) Series provides the opportunity for Thoroughbreds to compete in Jumping after they have retired from the track. Conducted over two rounds then a final for the top 15 combinations the win went to Queenslanders Courtney Scott and the mare Foxie Sockcee. As a racehorse, Foxie Socksee struggles to find success. Racing nine times with a best placing of fourth, she accumulated just $350 in career prizemoney, which pails into insignificance when you consider that the prize money for first place in the Final on Saturday was $1,500. “Foxie” is a much better jumper than a runner!

In addition to all of the above series, there were a handful of individual height classes which were conducted over the course of the show. Results of these classes were asl follows:
