Australian Jumping has named Charlie Magnier as our Under 25 Rider of the Year for 2025, and the season behind that decision is defined by results that speak clearly and powerfully for themselves.

Across twelve months of competition, Charlie delivered one of the strongest Junior and Young Rider campaigns we have seen. From early season starts through to the biggest championships on the calendar, Charlie’s name appeared again and again on podiums, leaderboards and title lists.

The centrepiece of the year came at the Australian Jumping Championships. In a week that demanded consistency from the first round to the final, Charlie claimed the Young Rider Championship with Notre Dame de Bourguignon, and the following day, Charlie returned to win the Junior Championship with Ogano, finishing again on zero penalties and taking the title from a field of 35 combinations. Winning both championships at the same national event placed Charlie in rare company and marked the season as something special.

State titles further reinforced that momentum. At the NSW State Titles, Charlie won the NSW State Young Rider Championship with Notre Dame de Bourguignon and added a third placing with Ogano in the same class. In the Junior Championship, Charlie finished second with Quinn Z and third with I’m Here, putting multiple horses inside the top three in a strong  junior field.

Show success was scattered throughout the season. At the SJA Classic, Charlie won the 1.35m Young Rider Final with Ogano and placed fourth with Notre Dame de Bourguignon. At the Waratah World Cup Show, Charlie topped the Young Rider with Notre Dame de Bourguignon. At the Boneo World Cup Show, Charlie claimed victory in the Open 125cm with Quinn Z and the Open 135cm with Notre Dame de Bourguignon, winning both classes against large open fields and adding further depth to an already standout season.

The Stonewall International added more ribbons, where Charlie won the Young Rider Championship with Ogano and continued to feature prominently across Junior and Open classes across the show.

Across the year, Charlie recorded wins and podium finishes with Ogano, Notre Dame de Bourguignon, Quinn Z, I’m Here and Krescendo. Junior classes, Young Rider classes, National Championships and State Titles all featured on the results list. It was a season built not on one standout moment, but on sustained performance across venues, horses and levels.

What makes this nomination resonate is the cumulative weight of those results. Championships won, titles secured, and consistency maintained from February through to December. Each result added another layer to a season that quietly became impossible to ignore.
