The Pet Circle 2025 Australian Jumping Championships got underway this morning at the beautiful Boneo Park Equestrian Centre on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Conducted in cool blustery conditions, the first class this morning on the main arena was the first round of the Equestrian Life Children’s Championship.

Open to riders aged between 10 and 14 years old, today’s first round the Championship will be followed by a second round tomorrow. The best 20 performed combinations over these two rounds will be invited back to compete in Saturday’s final.

A total of 43 combinations hit the course this morning in a single round competition where in a fantastic display of Jumping, 27 of them recorded clear rounds.

The very first combination on course were Eliza Abrahams and Oaks Diabella who, having recorded a clear 64.45 second round, set the standard leading the way deep into the contest.

It wasn’t until Eliza Baird and Bling Du Rouet took to the course at 24th on the start list that the competition changed dramatically. They recorded a scintillating, clear, 60.95 second round that not only stole the lead, but put a gap of over 3 seconds on the next best.

It looked like a winning ride until, with just six combinations to come, Eliza Abrahams returned to the arena, this time aboard the gelding Emcee Street Wise. Producing a wonderful round, they rocketed around the course to record a clear 60.69 round, taking the lead by just 0.16 seconds. While the last few combinations tried valiantly to match the leader’s round, they fell just short of producing a winning ride.

It was a fantastic class to open the championships and we look forward to the rest of what promises to be a very interesting battle for the title.
