Clint Beresford delights with a win in the 2018 Sydney Royal Grand Prix
Topping off an excellent couple of weeks of jumping at the 2018 Sydney Royal, the Grand Prix was fought out over two rounds yesterday in front of an excited crowd. What a battle it was – over a huge 1.60m international quality track, the riders put on a spectacular display. Of particular note was Tallara Cameron on Copabella Verdi who came out of Round 1 carrying 4 penalties to ride a spectacular jump-off with only 1 time penalty to finish in 3rd position. One of the most experienced riders in the competition, Russell Johnstone and Daprice came into the jump-off with zero penalties and with one rail down finished in 2nd. Clint Beresford and Emmaville Jitterbug were the stars of the show however, coming out of Round 1 with 4 penalties for a spectacular clear round in the jump-off securing him the title. For his efforts throughout the show, Emmaville Jitterbug was also awarded the Samuel Horden Memorial Perpetual Trophy for the “Jumping Horse of the Show”.
Congratulations also to Tom McDermott who’s horse Diamont won the title of ‘Best Young Jumping Horse of the Show’ and Aaron Hadlow who took out “Most Successful Rider in Jumping Contests”.
