Competition ramps up in Tamworth ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup
The 2018 Tamworth World Cup Show is being held over four days (Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th October) at AELEC. The program comprises a large number of individual classes, six ‘tour style’ competitions and of course, the main event, the Carmyle Veterinary Services World Cup Qualifier which is scheduled as the last class on the 4CYTE Indoor Arena on Saturday.

The six tours are the Children’s Tour, the Rising Stars Tour, the Junior Tour, the Young Rider Tour, the Bronze Tour and the Silver Tour. In each of these tours, a first qualifying round was held today and a second qualifying round will be held tomorrow. Combinations will be ranked according to their finishing positions over the two qualifying rounds and the top 30 combinations (20 for the children) will contest the finals in each tour, all scheduled for Sunday. Also held today, in preparation for tomorrow’s World Cup Qualifying event, was trot-up for those FEI horses involved.

THE TAMWORTH INTERNATIONAL EVENTING RISING STARS TOUR – FIRST QUALIFIER (1.15m)
The first qualifying round of the Rising Stars Tour, was the first class held today on the 4CYTE Indoor Arena, here at ARLEC. Forty-four combinations attempted the course and with 18 clears, a large jump-off ensued. Of the jump off entrants, ten recorded double clears, meaning that only the very quickest had any chance of winning the class. First place went to Southern Highlands resident James Arkins and WP Grandiamo. Only one second separated them from Camilla MacDonald and Zartop in second, with Melinda Rechichi and Sylvestro filling third.

THE KOLORA LODGE AND TRAILRACE SADDLERY JUNIOR TOUR – FIRST QUALIFIER (1.10/1.15m)
The first qualifying round of the Junior Tour, was held on Ring 2 this morning. Thirty-five combinations tackled the course with 13 clears recorded. Winner of the jump off by a clear margin was Victoria Hoy and Falklands. Charlie Richardson and Bellbirds Sandpiper were second, almost a second ahead of Maddie Harley and Willjon Jasper in third.

THE AUSTBROKERS NTIB YOUNG RIDER TOUR – FIRST QUALIFIER (1.20/1.30m) – (Class 19)
The first qualifying round of the Young Rider Tour, was held on Ring 2 this afternoon. A small field of 13 competed and 6 clear rounds ensued. The fastest clear round in the jump off went to Charlie Kinder and Renmarno. In second place was Cameron Moffatt and HPS Minou, with Cade Hunter and Midnight Rock taking third.

THE HUNTED GOURMET BRONZE TOUR – FIRST QUALIFIER (1.20m)
The first qualifying round of the Bronze Tour, was held on the 4CYTE Indoor Arena today. Continuing his great form from the Rising Stars class, James Arkins was victorious on Eurostar. To do so, he had to beat a huge field of 55 combinations, 29 of which were clear, meaning an exciting jump off followed. Arkins and Eurostar flew around the course to record the fastest time of 34.65 seconds. Second went to Olivia Hamood and Sundance GHP, in a tight one, just 0.05 seconds ahead of the third placed Sam Overton and Oaks Casanova.

THE PROFESSIONALS TAMWORTH SILVER TOUR – FIRST QUALIFIER (1.35m)
Sixteen of the 37 starting combinations in the the first qualifying round of the Silver Tour were invited into the jump off today. Winning by just 0.01 seconds was Katie Laurie and Esteban MVNZ, over the Future Star winners from last weekend at the NSW Country Championships, Stuart Jenkins and Blackall Park Penny Lane. Third place went to Queensland combination Tim Bowman and Calaza Park Ellibell.
