Douglass dominates in Sydney Royal Mini Prix
The final day of Jumping action at the 2024 Sydney Royal Easter Show has got underway this morning with a cracking Mini Prix conducted over two rounds. A total of 15 combinations accepted invitations to enter this class, based on their performance throughout the show in either Section 2 or Section 3.
The Graeme Watts designed course provided a challenge for the entrants with just three combinations putting in clear rounds. There were a further six who recorded four faults and with the faults incurred in round 1 carrying through to the second round, these nine looked to have places on the podium to themselves.
Thirteen combinations came back for the second round, but there were again just three clears with only one of the first-round clears managing to repeat the achievement. That combination was, Amelia Douglass and Yalambi’s Key Largo, a horse that has recently made its way from the west coast and was previously ridden by Tessa Lill.
Second place in the class went to Jessica Stalling and Chatina. They recorded a rail in the first round but were then clear in the second to finish on a total of four. Their second-round time of 63.25 seconds was enough to relegate the other combination also finishing on a total of four to third place. Brook Dobbin and Devos GP followed up their first-round clear with four faults in the second round in a time of 66.33 seconds.
