Australia’s Jamie Winning-Kermond and Tulara Wat Colblensky have begun their FEI Jumping World Cup Final campaign in Fort Worth, taking on one of the deepest fields in world Jumping in the opening speed competition.

Drawn 23rd in the 35-strong starting order, Jamie and the Rachel Peel-owned Tulara Wat Colblensky produced a clear round in a time of 68.73 seconds to finish 20th. In a class run under Table C, where every fraction of a second mattered, it was a solid start for the Australian combination as they stepped into a final against many of the sport’s biggest names.

The opening competition was won by America’s Kent Farrington and Toulayna in 62.03 seconds, just ahead of Germany’s Daniel Deusser and Otello de Guldenboom on 62.21, while Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and Albfuehren’s Iashin Sitte finished third on 62.49. The tight margins at the top underlined the pressure of the first final and the standard of competition Jamie was up against.

There is still plenty ahead in Fort Worth, but the campaign is now underway. Jamie and Tulara Wat Colblensky have made their opening statement on one of the sport’s biggest stages, and there will be many watching from home as their World Cup Final journey continues.
