Great Day 2 for Australia at Saut Hermès, Paris
It was a great Day 2 at Saut Hermès in Paris for our Australian riders. Billy Raymont and Oaks Redwood had a solid clear in the Prix GL events, placing 14th in a field of 37 of the world’s top riders. It was a fantastic round to watch and really demonstrated that our riders are up there with the best in the world.
A huge congratulations goes to Edwina Tops-Alexander who with her partner for the event, Bertram Allen, won the Le Saut Hermès CSI 5* pairs event. Riding Lintea Tequila (Campbell 5 x Corrado II), Edwina, who won the Grand Prix Hermès last year, produced a double clear, along with the fastest time of 50.88 seconds in the jump-off. Twenty two year old Bertram completed his second round with just one rail.
“It went right down to the wire”, said Bertram. “It was a really exciting class – Edwina made my job easier by doing two clear rounds. I knew I could only afford to make one mistake if we wanted to win.”
“I’m over the moon with our victory,” said Edwina. “To win the Le Saut Hermès just one year after I won the Grand Prix Hermès, and particularly after my long break following the birth of my daughter, I am really very happy.”
We are all looking forward to the Grand Prix tomorrow where all three Australian riders will be competing.
