The final class wrapping up a wonderful five days of competition yesterday afternoon at the 2025 Pet Circle Australian Jumping Championships was the Turiya Farms Australian Mini Prix Championship.

On Thursday, we saw 55 combinations take to the course in the first qualifying round of this championship where Jack Barker and Cornets Prinzess blitzed the field to take the win. On Friday Tom McDermott and Ketut led the way in the second qualifier.

Based on performances across these two classes. The combinations were ranked and the top 28 were invited into yesterday afternoon’s final. A fifth placing followed by an eighth in the second class earnt Tess McInerney and Quintation bragging rights as the best performed which allowed them to come out last in the seeded draw.

It took until we were just into the second half of the draw until we saw our first clear round, achieved by lady of the moment Frida Lindgren and mare Sovereigns Forever. Frida was having a great afternoon as she had earlier been awarded the Katherine Quilty Memorial Award for being the best Lady rider over the course of the show.

There were only a further eight left to come when we saw our second clear round by Western Australian Rosie Oliver and Loreen and we knew that a jump off was going to be required. Before we came to the end of the start list, a further five combinations recorded clear rounds, setting up a seven-way jump off to determine the title.

First out in the jump off were Frida Lindgren and Sovereigns Forever, however a rail at the last fence put a damper on their title prospects. Rosie Oliver and the mare Loreen were next, but they also took a rail with a time which slotted them into second place.

The first double clear performance of the final was put in by Jack Barker and Cornets Prinzess. A tight ride in a super fast time of 40.20 seconds placed them in a good position with four combinations to come. Next out was Australian representative rider Billy Raymont aboard the stallion and Tulara Dakchico, however a rail meant they could not win.

It was now down to the last three. Jamie Kermond and Yalambi’s Lord Byron put in a great clear round, however a time of 40.84 was not quite quick enough to take the lead from 18 year old Jack. Next out was Amelia Douglass and the gelding Yalambi’s Key Largo. They too were clear but with a time of 46.27 seconds, they did not threaten the two other clears.

The last combination out were Tess McInerney and Quintation. They tried valiantly to claim the class but a rail put paid to their chances.

So the win went to Jack Barker and Cornets Prinzess which was wonderful way to wrap up the show adding to his third placing in the Junior Championship earlier in the day.

It was an exciting class to watch and a great way to wrap up what has been a fantastic 5 days of competition at the 2025 Australian Jumping Championships at Boneo Park.
