Jamie Winning-Kermond’s run at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Fort Worth came to an end in Round A of the deciding competition, but the Australian rider can leave Texas with plenty to be proud of after competing in one of the world’s top competitions. In the final competition, Jamie and Tulara Wat Colblensky recorded 16 penalties to finish 23rd in Round A, with only the top 20 combinations progressing through to Round B.

That result meant Jamie did not return for the last round of the championship, but her place at the Final itself was already a significant achievement. On the overall standings, Jamie finished 21st on 36 penalties after completing her World Cup Final campaign against a field that began with 35 athletes and 38 horses, with only 20 combinations qualifying for the last round.

For Australian supporters, there was every reason to view the week positively. To reach a World Cup Final is no small thing, and to line up in Fort Worth against many of the best riders in the world was an important milestone for Jamie and for Rachel Peel’s Tulara Wat Colblensky. The pair held their own on one of the sport’s biggest stages and gained invaluable experience in an atmosphere and level of competition that few riders ever get the chance to test themselves in.
