Jessie O’Connell wins Young Rider Tour at Elysian Fields
In a scintillating display of high class jumping Jessie O’Connell and Cassis Z Ten Halven took out the Sanna Equestrian Young Rider Tour today. Riding a very impressive double clear, Jessie took out a two way jump off against Jasmine Dennison on Carita Gratia to win the first leg of the Stal Tops Australian Young Rider Series for 2018.
After finishing 25th in the 1st qualifier, then 10th in the 2nd qualifier, the combination of Jessie and Cassis Z Ten Halven saved their best till last. In the final they rocketed around the course as one of only two clear rounds. Another clear round in the jump off ensured Jessie won the coveted first prize. For her win today Jessie takes home an impressive $2245 ($745 for 1st plus an additional $1500 from the Stal Tops bonus)
Also saving their best till the final was the second place pairing of Jasmine Dennison on Carita Gratia. After finishing 22nd and 13th in the qualifying rounds, they rode clear in the final to set up a jump-off. However, a single rail down in the jump-off ensured victory went to Cassie.
Third place went to the combination of Brooke Langbecker and Flowerdale Diamond. Brooke was ultra consistent in the qualifying rounds, with 2nd and 6th placings, however, despite posting the fastest time in the final, an unlucky single rail down cost her a place in the jump-off.
