The first week of jumping at Sydney Royal saw some fantastic competition from our top Junior riders. There were six combinations that consistently placed over the four days with the battle for the top spot fiercely contested.

The first class on Friday was taken out by Sophie Hatch and her wonderful Rosthwaite Belvedere, with Jessie Rice-Ward a close second on CP Southern Cross. We also saw some great riding by Clemency Hughes and Nicolette, Milly Fisher and Laurel Glen Brandy Man and Tori Cureton and Double The Bank to finish off the top five placings.

Saturday’s class saw Emily Baldwin and Twins Ava take the win, with Jessie Rice-Ward and CP Southern Cross being relegated to third and Sophie Hatch back to 5th. However on Sunday, roles were reversed and Rice-Ward dominated to take the win from Baldwin.

The Grand Prix today saw Jessie Rice-Ward from Dubbo NSW with CP Southern Cross pull out all the stops to not only take the win but also take out the prize for Most Successful Girl Junior Girl Rider as well as the The Helen Rose Memorial Perpetual Trophy for the Most Successful Girl Rider in Junior Jumping Contests. Isabella Hughes and Beethoven also wrapped up an excellent few days with an excellent ride to take second place in the GP.
