Jim Scobie leading Jumping NSW Amateur Championship at halfway point
With the year over half over, we thought it was time to check in with the Jumping NSW Amateur Championship competition to see how the current points table stands.
The competition is currently a race in four, with two combinations tied in the lead and a further two combinations tied in third place just one point off the lead. With a further 11 points back to fifth place, these four combinations have scooted away from the field and would seem to be in a great position to challenge for the championship.
Of the four combinations dominating the points score table, Gundagai based rider and racehorse trainer Jim Scobie is dominant. He has three combinations in the top four and has done so by picking up points in almost every one of the six rounds held to date. He, in combination with both Soxdown and Boomerang Café are tied in the lead on 30 points. Just behind on 29 are Scobie again with Fernhill Aussie Balou, tied with Berridale based Sarah Dreverman and Emmaville Van Gogh. Also tied are the two equal fifth place ranked combinations on 18 points, of Natalie De Souza and Romley Corsair and Alyssa Williams and Willybling.

We hope that the current COVID-19 situation can be rectified soon, to allow the rest of the championship to take place without a decrease in the number of rounds. Whatever form the rest of the competition takes, we are sure it will be an enthralling second half to the championship.
