NSW Championships wrap up in style
Ominous skies couldn’t dampen the excitement at the beginning of the final day of the NSW State Championships. We have had a brilliant day of jumping. Below are the key results from today.

NSW Young Rider Final
The final of the NSW Young Rider Championship, and the second round of the Stal Tops Young Rider Series, was a hotly contested competition on the Yandoo Equestrian Services Arena this morning. In the end, it was the in-form Erin Buswell and the super Quero Quero who took out both the class and the championship. Buswell and her mount were the only combination to go double clear in a time of 55.44, ahead of Amelia Douglass and Sirius Du Granit who finished with 4 penalties in a time of 64.24 and Brooke Langbecker and Beijing LS La Silla also with 4 penalties in 64.90.

NSW Childrens’ Final
The children flew around the track as only they can do! In a tight competition it was Emily Quodling and Aaberdeen Adonis who took out the class in a great time of 36.69 but it was Charlie Dobbin and Dreamtime Invader, who with their consistent form all week and second place in today’s final, ended up taking the championship.

NSW Futurity Final
Wow – what a competition for the Futurity Final, with fabulous young horses giving us a preview of what we can look forward to in the future. Stuart Jenkins and Blackall Park Penny Lane continued their form from recent months to win the class with a lovely clear round in a super fast time of 56.62. Brook Dobbin took out 2nd and 3rd on Gina MVNZ and Leopoldo MVNZ respectively. With his team in such good form, Dobbin also took out 1st and 2nd in the 2018 Futurity Championship.

NSW Mini Prix Final
Well we thought that it was Chris Chugg on KG Queenie that had the championship in the bag, but with only 3 penalties up his sleeve, a very costly rail at the last fence gave to title to the very deserving Jess Stones and Diamond B Vermont. Angela Dobbin added to her collection of garlands from the show by winning the Final, clear in a time of 51.82. Stones and Diamond B Vermont were a couple of seconds behind to come in 2nd and James Arkins and Eurostar rounded out the top three, clear in 53.81 seconds.

NSW Junior Final
The weather held up for the final class for the day, the NSW Junior Title, and what a tight class it was! With nothing separating the top few riders, it came down to time and in the end it was Jess Rice-Ward and Dinero who had a super round in 36.49 seconds to take 1st place with Bronte Hutchinson and Pollyanna in a very close second (36.65) and Maleah Lang-McMahon and KS Sovereign’s Cadel in an even closer 3rd (36.67). But for the most important result, it was Sophie Hatch and Rosthwaite Belvedere who are the 2018 NSW Junior Champions. Congratulations to all our Juniors placegetters.
