NSW State Champs – positions are set for finals tomorrow

Day 2 of the NSW Jumping Championships were held today at Willinga Park, clearing the way for a great day of finals tomorrow. With clear cool conditions as well as the fantastic arenas that Willinga Park offers, the jumping provided a great spectacle for the gathered spectators.

As was the case yesterday, the first class on the Trail Race main arena was for combinations, competing in the Horseland Canberra NSW Children’s Championship, where we saw a reversal of the placings at the top of the results. Young Victorian superstar, Zara Adnams and Tally Ho Primrose took the win, going one better than their second place yesterday, relegating yesterday’s winning combination of Valentina Hercus and Gold Play into second. These two will head into tomorrow’s final ready for a giant tussle which should provide fascinating viewing. See the Children’s Pointscore HERE.

AGW Equestrian were the sponsors of the second round of the NSW Amateur Title, which was won by the tiny margin of just 0.07 seconds in a jump off by Isabella Hughes and Beethoven from Jordan Pryor and APH Illuminate in second place. See the Amateur Pointscore HERE.

The second round of the Willinga Park NSW Junior Title went to Sophie Baldwin and CW Conquest, a much- improved performance on their seventh place in yesterday’s first round. Coincidentally, yesterday’s winning combination, Ella Hayward and Edena DP finished in seventh place today. See the Junior Pointscore HERE.

The second round of the CWD Futurity Championship today was taken out by the winning combination from yesterday’s first round, Matt Irvine and Greengrove Calle I in a fine double clear performance. See the Futurity Pointscore HERE.

The second round of the Dowse Projects NSW Senior Title was an exciting class which saw Melissa Blair and Zidora prevail in a four-way jump-off. The other three combinations all took a rail in the jump off, so it was Blair’s round with two time faults which was enough to snatch the win. See the Senior Pointscore HERE.

Yesterday, Jess Rice-Ward dominated Round 1 of the Team Priestley NSW Young Rider Title by claiming first and second spots. Today, she had to settle for second and third placings with yesterday’s third placed combination Tori Cureton and Equus Archer providing the only clear round of the class to take the win. The second round of the Ouverture Sport Horses Mini Prix Championship went to Jamie Priestley and Oaks Diamantina in a wonderful double clear performance. See the Mini Prix Pointscore HERE.

The only clear round in the Waratah Showjumping NSW Speed Championship was achieved by Clint Beresford and Emmaville Jitterbug, which was enough to claim victory in what turned out to be a very exciting class.

It was a great day of jumping competition and we look forward to the final day of competition tomorrow, when the rest of the Titles will be decided.
