Outstanding Performance at Nations Cup Final in Barcelona
Jamie Kermond and Yandoo Oaks Constellation.
Way to make us proud Team Australia! What a brilliant performance from our Jumping Team in Barcelona who took on some very strong nations to take out second place in the Challenge Cup – at the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. The fact that we were the only team in the competition to only have 3 riders and therefore no drop-score, made it all the more impressive.
After watching the first wave of riders go through from the other nations, Chris Burton and Chedington Hazy Toulana were the first of the Aussies to take to the Santiago Varela designed track and had a very strong round with just one rail down. This set us up beautifully for the very experienced combination of Hilary Scott and Oaks Milky Way to come in during the next wave a post a magnificent clear round. It all came down to the team anchor combination of Jamie Kermond and Yandoo Oaks Constellation who demonstrated the fruits of their long-term partnership and significant experience to deliver another beautiful clear.

In the latter stage of the competition Australia and the Netherlands were each sitting on 4 penalties and Mexico were all clear until their last combination took 2 rails to push them into third spot and trigger a jump-off between Australia and the Netherlands for the top spot on the podium.
Chris Burton took to the arena once more with Chedington Hazy Toulana and put in a masterfully quick round but unfortunately one rail down opened the door to the Netherlands who took the opportunity and posted a clear to take the win.
Congratulations to our Team and to Chef Stephen Lamb on a memorable performance.
