ROUND 2 – WERRIBEE
The Second Leg of the Australian World Cup Qualifying Series was held at Werribee in late March. Going into the event Sam Overton was in second place on the leaderboard, however, the win at Werribee which gained him the maximum 20 points has shot him to the competition lead. Sitting on 35 points, he is nine clear of the second placed Philip Lever, who picked up 15 points at Werribee for his third placing. Mattea Davidson, who went into the second leg on top of the leader board after her win at Shepparton in Leg 1, could only muster an extra seven points and now sits in third place, just a single point behind Lever. The consistent Madeline Sinderberry, who has placed sixth in both Legs this season, picked up 13 points at Werribee and now lies in fourth place overall on 23 points.
The biggest mover up the leader board this leg was Robert Palm who finished second this week. The 17 points earned in doing so has seen him into equal seventh place, however, he is the only one of the top nine competitors who has only competed in one leg and with the just the top five results in the season counting towards the final season total, he is well placed with a leg in hand, which may turn out to his advantage later in the season.
We make special mention of Kate Rowe who had her first start in a World Cup Qualifier at Werribee, finishing in ninth place. The resulting 11 points earnt, sees her currently lie in equal tenth place on the leader board.
