Poland Wins Opening Europe Division 2 Nations Cup Series at Linz
Poland Pushed Ukraine into runner-up spot at the fourth leg of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping 2016 Series in Linz in Austria on the 8th of May. The contest was comprised of 13 teams with only the top 8 teams returning to the second round. The first round saw Australia, Hungary, Portugal, Slovakia and Lithuania sidelined as Spain, Japan, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Norway, Luxembourg and Austria pushed onto round two.
The Australian team consisted of Chris Chugg riding his Stallion Cera Cassiago, Steven Hill riding Yalambi’s Bellini Star, Merrick Ubank riding Atlantus and James Paterson-Robinson riding Amarillo. An unlucky run-out at the wall at fence 11 for Chugg and Cassiago saw the combination finish on 18 penalties in a time of 82.48. Steven Hill and Merrick Ubank both jumped 8 fault rounds in what was one of both riders first taste representing their country on an international stage. JPR (James Paterson-Robinson) followed up his win in 1.40m speed class on board Ronald De La Pomme the with a faultless round on Amarillo in a time of 72.94 to leave Australia in 9th place.
