Sarah McMillan and Tyrone have taken out the latest Australian World Cup Qualifier held over the weekend as part of the Sale and Districts Showjumping Club’s World Cup Show. Despite only 12 combinations taking part in the class, it was top notch Jumping, over a challenging Gavin Chester designed course.

The competition was over two rounds and we had to wait until almost the end of first round before we saw our first clear, put together by Sarah McMillan and her gelding Tyrone. There were only a further two combinations who recorded less than eight first-round faults, those being Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster (4 penalties) and Robert Palm and Jaybee Vibrant (5 penalties).

The second round saw nine combinations invited back and with Round One penalties being carried into the second round, these three were set to fight things out.

In the second round, Robert and Jaybee Vibrant put the pressure on their rivals by producing a brilliant clear round, leaving them with a total of five, while Tom and Cooley Gangster, in the process of producing a very fast round, incurred four penalties to leave them on a total of eight.

When Sarah and Tyrone entered the arena for the second time, they knew exactly what was required to claim victory. They produced a steady careful round, being sure to leave all the rails in place. They completed the course in 75.64 seconds, which incurred a time fault, but it did not matter. Their two-round total of one penalty was more than enough for the well-deserved win.

Second place went to Robert Palm and Jaybee Vibrant and with three combinations finishing equal on eight faults, third place was claimed by the fastest of these, Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster.

It was a great competition and we look forward to the final World Cup Qualifier of the season to be held at the Sydney Summer Classic, in December.
