World Cup Qualifying battle resumes this weekend
There has been no shortage of rain drenching various parts of the country over the last few months, however, one area where there has been a drought is in World Cup Jumping action. It seems like a lifetime ago that Larapinta hosted the third leg of the FEI Australian World Cup Qualifying Series where Billy Raymont and Caprino stole the show with a wonderful double clear performance to claim the maximum points.
The drought will break this weekend when the fourth leg of the series takes place as part of The Peachester Lodge Festival of Showjumping at Caboolture.
While a number of our top riders have headed overseas to compete this year, the start list for Saturday’s World Cup Qualifier sees eight of the current top 10 riders in the standings down to compete and the competition could not be tighter.
Currently legendary rider Clem Smith leads the way on 36 points, followed by 2022 Series winner Sam Overton and Mattea Davidson tied for second on 35. Gemma Creighton is in fourth place on 34 points, and with these four all entered for Saturday, an exciting battle for the series lead should ensue.
The Peachester Lodge FEI World Cup Qualifier will be held over two rounds with the action commencing at 1:30 pm at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture.
