All set for Young Horse finals at PSI DJWTS at Werribee
The second day of the annual PSI DJWTS Show, held at the National Equestrian Centre in Werribee has wrapped up. For a full wrap of Day 1, click HERE.
Yesterday saw second rounds in all the Young Horse classes with the day culminating in a fantastic World Cup Qualifying round. Click HERE for our story on the World Cup class.
The jumping action started just after sunrise with the second round of the 4-year old competition, which saw 20 combinations entered. First place today went to Condor (Cornel x Zidora by Ziroco Blue) ridden by Australian Olympian James Paterson-Robinson. This lovely warmblood gelding, bred and owned by Melissa Blair, went one better than their second placing yesterday, with today’s score of 86.000%.

Second place went to the round 1 winning combination of Yandoo Evergreen (Tulara Windstorm x Lady Quincella Gold by Quincy Z), ridden by Jamie W Kermond, with a score of 84.833%. This Yandoo Equestrian owned and bred warmblood mare, will go into tomorrow’s final at the top of the leaderboard.
The combination which finished fourth yesterday improved to take third place today. Ally Lamb and Diamond B Franklin (Emerald van t ruytershof x Diamond B Capri by Conquistador) which was bred by Helen Chugg at Diamond B Farm, looked fantastic in the ring and are situated close enough to the lead to challenge for the title tomorrow.
The final of this class will be held first thing tomorrow morning.

The next class was the second round of the Trailrace Australian Young Jumping Horse 5-year-old competition where 25 combinations were entered.
With a performance that the judges very much appreciated the win went to Jon Snow (Vingino x Happy Girl by Eldorado vd Zeshoek) ridden by Josh Collins. This grey warmblood stallion bred by Jamie Kermond and owned by Yandoo Equestrian, received a score of 89.666%, the highest of the day so far.

Yesterday’s round 1 winners Yalambi’s Messiah (Cardento x Yalambi Faith Van Dabyijhoeve by Heartbreaker) and Caitlin Bolger were second today, with a score of 88.166%. Bred by Rory Hovell at his Yalambi Stud in WA and owned by Bolger, this grey warmblood stallion will go into tomorrow’s final at the top of the leaderboard.
As they did yesterday, the NSW based combination of Emma Smith and KG Dreamline (Diarado x Cera Carlina by Clearway) had to settle for third place. Bred by Gabrielle Chugg, this grey Holsteiner mare had a wonderful round, scoring 87.666%

After a short break in proceedings the next class on the main arena was Round 2 of the Pryde’s EasiFeed Australian Young Jumping Horse 6-year-old competition which saw 28 combinations tackle the David Sheppard designed course over 1.10m.
With a score of 85.000%, the win went to James Harvey and YIRRKALA CELESTE (Cristian x Yirrkala Exclusive by Escudo). A grey warmblood mare, this horse was bred at Yirrkala Stud and is owned by James Harvey.

Second place went to BONITA (Balou de Rouet x Alondra by Unknown) ridden by Victorian Phillip Lever. Bred by Barton Equine and owned by Jessica Pateman this grey warmblood mare, elicited some very positive comments from the judges.
Brook Hickey rode TULARA FLARE (For Fashion x Cassedero by Cassini II) into third place, up two places from yesterday’s fifth. Bred by the prestigious Tulara Warmbloods establishment and owned by Hickey herself, this black warmblood mare is a spectacular specimen to see on the arena.

The fourth and final age class for today was the first round of the Antares Australian Young Jumping Horse 7-year-old competition. Which saw 16 combinations entered.
In a very classy display, the win today went to the winners of yesterday’s Round 1, Olivia Hamood and Diamond B Bedazzled (Baluga x Viva La Rose by Vivant) with a score of 88.333%. Bred by Helen Chugg at Diamond B Farm, this mare owned by Hamood, was the only horse to win both rounds of their respective age group and obviously goes into tomorrow’s final on top of the leaderboard.

Just as in the 7-year-old class yesterday, again today there was a tie for second and third placings with a score of 85.333%. Lumi (Calgary GNZ x Licara by Accord 11) ridden by Emma Smith improved from fifth yesterday to take one of these positions. A bay warmblood gelding owned by Emma Smith and bred by Caswell Stables, they were the subject of much praise by the judges.
Also tied for second place was one of the combinations which also tied for second yesterday. Ally Lamb combined with Glenara Chacco DP (Chacco Blue x Glenara Question Mark by Vivant), a bay warmblood stallion, to take a share of second. The horse was bred at Glenara Park and is owned by Lamb.
