Jake Hunter – Australian Jumping U25 Rider of 2021
Each year the team at ‘Australian Jumping’ pick two riders who have stood out to us during the past 12 months. After what has been an incredibly challenging year for our sport, both here and internationally, we recognise one Under 25 and one Senior Aussie rider for their performances this year.
Jake has had a fantastic year competing throughout Europe where he has found himself on the podium more than once. Jake was selected to represent Australia is two Nations Cup Competitions, the first in Drammen in Norway, where he helped us to finish in second place in a very hotly contested competition (read more HERE). In October, he again represented at Nations Cup level, this time at the Sunshine Tour – Circuito Hipico del Sol in Spain (read more HERE).

Last December, Jake was ranked in 676th place in the FEI rider rankings and over the course of the 2021, has slowly chipped away at this ranking to currently be ranked at 553 in the world, making his Australia’s fifth top ranked rider. When looking at the Under 25 FEI rankings, Jake is far and away Australia’s best ranked Under 25 rider. He currently sits in 87th place in the world rankings, with Australia’s next best Under 25 ranked in the 600’s.
Jake is a young man going places. Having already represented Australia at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in China and now in FEI Nations Cup competitions, we anticipate we will see him as part of the Australian Jumping Team in the future.
We look forward to tomorrow announcing the 2021 Australian Jumping Senior Rider of the Year.
