Stars shine at Larapinta World Cup Show

The Mitavite FEI World Cup Show, held at Larapinta in southern Brisbane wrapped up on Saturday afternoon after four days of fantastic jumping action. It was the first Jumping World Cup held at this beautiful venue after the cancellation of the planned event in 2022 and was the third of 10 Legs scheduled for the 2023 season.

Four arenas were used to accommodate the more than 600 horses and almost 350 riders entered and it is a credit to the organising committee for successfully organising such a large show.

The feature event on the program was the Mitavite FEI World Cup Qualifier, which was enjoyed by the huge crowd on Saturday afternoon. It was a very exciting second round and for a full summary of how the class unfolded, click HERE.

The program also saw the second Leg of the 2023 Stal Tops Australian Young Rider Series decided. Our full wrap of this class can be read HERE.

There were a wide range of supporting classes on the Larapinta program. The Magic Millions Future Stars Final was held on Saturday after two preliminary rounds sorted out the top 30 combinations to qualify for the final. The class was won by the NSW combination of Madeline Sinderberry and Keilor Bamboo, in a wonderful double clear performance. They were almost 5 seconds clear of the second placed Amanda Madigan and Diamond B Beyonce, with Billy Raymont and Tulara Dakchico a further 1.5 seconds behind in third place. All three placegetters recorded double clear performances.

The Peachester Lodge Mini Prix also saw just three double clear efforts, which filled the podium with NSW based combinations. The win went to Tom McDermott and Cachassini II, by less than half a second from Madeline Sinderberry and Camie Z. In third place were Rhys Stones and Riverton Kanntador.

The Jayem Performance Horses Junior Classic was taken out by the recent winner of the best boy rider at Sydney Royal, Charlie Magnier and Quinn Z. They were double clear and over three seconds faster than Jack Barker and Tulara for Quinar in second place, who went on to win a 1.15m class for Juniors on the final day. Third went to the Victorian based combination of Tanner Robinson and Yalambis Corlandia, also double clear and just 0.02 seconds behind second place.

Stonewall Equestrian were the sponsors of the Amateur Championship, which was won by Gwenaelle Lecerf and Asdecoeur Dhigginson in a double clear performance by a margin of over 3 seconds. Thomas Madigan and La Chance were second and Rebecca Bates and WHF Colin Frissell, both recorded double clears as well.

There were several multiple class winners over the four days of competition. Emmy Ravenscoft and the Gemma Creighton owned mare It’s Pandora won classes on Friday and Saturday both at 1.05m. Samantha Dernee dominated the TSHA classes with mare Raise An Angel, winning at 1.10m and 1.20m on the Wednesday. This combination also recorded a pair of second placings over the course of the show. Samantha also recorded a win in the second of the Future Stars Rounds with the mare Laurel Glen Quintessence.

While these performances were outstanding, they were nothing compared to the phenomenal efforts of Queensland based Young Rider, Cody Tincknell. He had a fantastic show, recording wins in no less than seven classes across the four days. He won four classes with the gelding James Continue at 1.20m, 1.25m and 1.30m leading up to the win in the Stal Tops Young Rider Series. He also combined with the mare Lady Quincella Gold to win three open classes, two at 1.10m and one at 1.15m. It was a wonderful effort from this rising star on the Australian Jumping scene.
