We delve into what drives Victoria and how she manages the demands of being a rider, entrepreneur, television personality, and mother to her young family.
Victoria’s journey into the Jumping world began in an unexpected way, sparked by the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020. With limited activities available to pursue, she decided to take up horse riding, quickly discovering a new-found passion. “I started riding in May 2020, right in the middle of the lockdown as that was a permissible activity,” she recalls. Initially taking lessons once a week Centennial Park Equestrian Centre.
Following a move down to the southern highlands of NSW at the height of the pandemic, and under the guidance of James Arkins, Victoria was able to immerse herself in the world of horses. “I went from one lesson a week to six each week,” she explains. Riding a horse named Ella, previously owned by Amelia Douglass, helped her build confidence. Shortly after, she bought her own horse, Bling DuRouet, a schoolmaster that further facilitated her rapid development in the sport.
Impressively, Victoria’s first competition came just a year after she started riding. “I did my first show in November 2021 at Stonewall and then soon after one at SJA (Sydney Jump Association)” she recalls.
As a mother of young children and a business owner, Victoria’s life is undoubtedly busy. However, she embraces the challenge, stating, “If you want something done, give the job to a busy person.” Her early morning routines, coupled with a supportive community at Yandoo Equestrian, where she is coached by Emma Collins, helps her find the time for her passion.
Victoria speaks about the joy she derives from her time spent with horses and friends in the Jumping community. “I’ve always loved horses, even before I could ride,” she notes, recounting how much of the artwork in her home feature horses. Victoria looks forward to the weekends that she is able to attend shows, and her outgoing nature helps connect with her fellow riders.
Victoria is known for her role on ‘Real Housewives of Sydney’. This show has allowed her to share her journey, not only as a rider but also as a fashion designer and businesswoman. Balancing her television presence with her riding and business activities has added another layer to her dynamic lifestyle.
Beyond her riding pursuits, Victoria has made a significant mark in the fashion industry with her clothing brand, Sport Luxe. Originally focused on winter wear, she has recently expanded her line to include an equestrian range. “I was tired of spending so much on breeches and jackets,” she explains. “I knew I could create elegant, fashionable pieces at a more reasonable price.”
Victoria’s equestrian line is characterised by its stylish design and attention to detail, including unique features like gold buttons that set it apart from other brands. Her vision is to offer sophisticated attire that reflects the elegance of equestrian sport while remaining accessible to riders. “I aim to provide an Italian look and feel at an Australian price point,” she states.
The adult and kids collection includes everything from classic show jackets to trendy training gear in striking colors, all designed with the modern equestrian in mind. Victoria’s commitment to quality and style ensures that riders can look and feel their best in the ring.
As Victoria continues to balance her life as a rider, mother, entrepreneur, and television personality, she remains focused on her goals in equestrian sport. While she doesn’t aspire to become a professional rider, she hopes to progress from amateur classes in the coming years and is a great example of making time for the things in life that mean a lot to you.
