Juniors light up Sydney Royal
Sienna Holdsworth-Rose and Coolart Farm Short Torque
An exciting four days of Jumping reached its conclusion on Monday, when the Junior Grand Prix was held at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and what a year it has been, so far, for Victorian Junior High Performance Squad member Sienna Holdsworth-Rose. Sienna and her mare Coolart Farm Short Torque, in January, won the Junior division of the Magic Millions Showjumping on the Gold Coast and has now added the Junior Grand Prix at Sydney Royal to their list of victories. They were the only combination to record a pair of clear rounds, showing a clear pair of heels to a cracking line up of Juniors to claim one of the most prestigious titles on the annual Jumping calendar.
With three rounds of competition leaving up to the Grand Prix, there was plenty to like about how these young riders went about their business.
On the opening day of the show, the first round of the Junior Competition was the first class to test the surface of the Showground Arena, currently known as Engie Stadium. The speed class was won by the runners up in last year’s Australian Junior Championship Ella Hayward and Edena DP, with a fast round which left all the rails intact. Second place, despite incurring four seconds added to their time were Queenslanders Emily Lang-McMahon and Glenara Mudslide. Third place went to the Forbes combination of Jake Tomlinson and Wallaroo Jaguar who put in a clear round as did Sienna Holdsworth-Rose and Coolart Farm Short Torque who finished fourth.
The top six placings in this class were as follows.

Second place in 45.14 seconds went to Jack Barker and Tulara For Quinar, with Central Coast rider Molly Mooney and JB Evolution third in 48.82 seconds. As they did the previous day Sienna Holdsworth-Rose and Coolart Farm Short Torque filled fourth place.

Sunday’s third round was conducted under clear skies where the Juniors certainly put on a show for the large show crowds watching on. A total of 18 combinations presented for the class, with exactly half the field recording clear rounds. The 9-way jump off saw only three combinations again going clear so this trio filled the podium. The fastest of these were the Hunter Valley’s Charlie Magnier and Quinn Z, finishing the jump off in 44.70 seconds. Second place, emulating the effort of her twin sister in the first round, went to Elkee Lang-McMahon and Lily Elmare, finishing in 48.65 seconds. In third were, just as they had been the previous day, were Molly Mooney and JB Evolution. Taking a single rail, however recording the fastest time of the nine in the jump-off, to again finish fourth were Sienna Holdsworth-Rose and Coolart Farm Short Torque who had been a model of consistency over the three days of competion so far.

In the big Grand Prix final, 17 combinations turned up to compete in the competition which was held over two rounds. The winners did not have to rely on times to claim the victory as there was only one combination which managed a pair of clears and therefore the title. Coolart Farm Short Torque might be 19 years old, (and several years older than her rider) however the pair had a spring in their step during the class. Second place, with a total of four faults were the Round 3 winners Charlie Magnier and Quinn Z, who recorded a round 2 time of 61.79 seconds, some 8 seconds faster than the winners. Elkee Lang-McMahon and Lily Elmare, had a clear round two and did not add to their 8 first round penalties to claim third place.
