The first leg of the 2021 Stal Tops Australian Young Rider Series was held today as part of the 2021 Festival of Showjumping at Caboolture. Today’s class saw 34 of the finest Young Riders combinations battle it out for not only a share in $4000 prize money, but for valuable series points. With only four legs in the series, points from every leg will count towards series totals so a good start is imperative.

Some fine jumping saw 11 combinations record clear rounds and when 10 of these came back for a jump off, only three could produce another clear to book a place on the podium. Third place went to Jess Rice-Ward and Denison Park Style from NSW, who took a careful 54.73 seconds around the jump-off course.

Local rider, who is still eligible to compete at Junior level, Maleah Lang-McMahon, fresh from her wonderful clear round in the previous night’s first leg of the 2021 AJTL season, combined with the horse her father rode in the same AJTL event, K.S. Sovereigns Cadel to scoot around the jump-off course, clear, in 49.56 seconds, to take second. However, with a scorching time of just 46.80 seconds in the jump-off, the win went to NSW based 2019 Australian Young Rider Champion, Madeline Sinderberry riding Keilor Bamboo.
