Australian Jumping

The Jumping NSW Sydney Summer Classic Show wrapped up yesterday afternoon in warm conditions at SIEC, bringing to a conclusion four days of exciting jumping action. The first two days of action are detailed HERE, with this article concentrating on the final two days of action held over the weekend.

The feature class of the show was the Chatham Park World Cup Qualifier (CSI1*), held on Saturday afternoon. Amber Fuller and her rising star Nopal Van Tallaert took out the class in a wonderful double clear performance over the two rounds. Click HERE to see our full report on this class. Also on Saturday was the final Leg of the 2022 Australian Stal Tops Young Rider Series. Clemency Hughes and Diamond B Corvina were successful, taking out not only the class, but the Series. On Sunday, the Emcee Apparel Super Junior Final was won with a double clear performance by Victorian visitors Jack Barker and Tulara Colchic, beating off five other double clears.

The Camden Equine Centre Mini Prix was dominated by Madeline Sinderberry, who took the win with Gredstedgaards Number One and second place with Camie Z. For the win, Sinderberry was awarded the Robert Brook Perpetual trophy.

In the Winning Group Futurity Final, Rebecca Jenkins piloted Incredible C to victory, going one better than their second placing in an open 1.20m class on Thursday.

The Rising Stars Final was won by Sophie Scarce and Christella who took the win after a pair of placings at the Sydney Showjumping Club Championships last weekend.

Katrina Silk and Dunrostan were the only double clear performers in the Jumping NSW Amateur class, which was the last opportunity for riders to score points in the NSW Amateur rider of the year Series.

Special mention goes to young Hunter Valley rider Makaylah Fenwick and thoroughbred The Garret. They picked up three wins over the weekend, twice in TSHA classes at 0.90m and 1.00m on Saturday and an Open 1.00m on Sunday.

It was a great weekend of jumping, carrying on the tradition which is the Sydney Summer Classic, which has been running in the lead up to Christmas for many years.
