Stuart Jenkins takes out Silver Tour at Tamworth
After the excitement of last night’s Tamworth World Cup Qualifying class, you could be mistaken for thinking that things might have settled down today at AELEC. However, with six tour finals decided today, nothing could have been further from the truth. Friday saw all six First Qualifying rounds and Second Qualifying classes were held on Saturday. Combinations were ranked in each class and only those combinations with total rankings above a certain minimum level were invited to participate today. Australian Jumping is delighted to provide a report and details of placegetters for each of those finals.

THE KOLORA LODGE AND TRAILRACE SADDLERY JUNIOR TOUR – FINAL (1.20m)
The first class this morning on the 4CYTE Indoor Arena was the final of the Junior Tour, which involved 28 combinations based on their rankings from the two qualifying classes. After the first round only eight combinations were clear and they were invited back to participate in a jump off.
After half the field had completed the jump off, the race for the title was amazingly tied with both Maleah Lang-McMahon and KS Sovereign’s Cadel and Victoria Hoy and Falklands, the winners of each of the qualifiers, clear in an identical time of 32.88 seconds. However, Queenslander Lang-McMahon, with her second horse in the jump off, KS Annassi, sizzled around the course, to take the lead.
Last combination in the jump off was Charlie Richardson and Maverick, however, despite going clear in a fast time, they were not quite fast enough to take the win. This was a great result for Richardson and Mavrick, as they had finished only fifteenth and eighteenth in the qualifying rounds. Lang-McMahon and KS Sovereign’s Cadel and Nyngan resident, Victoria Hoy and Falklands remained tied and were awarded equal third place.

THE PROFESSIONALS TAMWORTH SILVER TOUR – FINAL (1.40m)
The next tour final on the 4CYTE indoor arena at AELEC today was the Silver Tour. A quality field of thirty combinations qualified for the final, however a couple of withdrawals meant that twenty-seven combinations presented. A total of ten clear rounds were recorded and these ten combinations were invited back for a jump off to determine the Silver Tour winner.
In the jump off, four combinations again went clear. First place went to Stuart Jenkins and Blackall Park Penny Lane. They had a very consistent tour finishing the qualifying rounds with second and seventh placings. In second place, and saving their best to last, having finished twenty-first and fifteenth in the qualifying rounds, was the combination of Elliot Reeves and Aveden Indigo, just 0.18 seconds slower. World Cup entrant and winner of the first qualifier, Katie Laurie and Esteban MVNZ finished in third place.

The next tour decided today on the 4CYTE Indoor Arena was the Young Rider Tour. Due to the small number of tour entries, a field of only twelve combinations contended today’s final.

With only two double clears recorded, it the Young Rider title was decided on time. The clear winner, over eight seconds faster than second place was winner of the second qualifier, Laura Munt and Colombo. Second place and again going double clear was Chris Holland and Elsa, who had placed fourth in each of the qualifying rounds. The consistently performed (third and second in the qualifying rounds) Cade Hunter and Midnight Rock, who were fastest of the four faulters, secured third placing.
